“Play Me I’m Yours” Pianos All Over New York City

Streetpianos.com - New York City is placing pianos in 60 parks and other public spaces throughout the city and inviting anyone to decorate and play them. The two-week project, dubbed “Play Me, I’m Yours,” kicks off June 21 with a one-day music festival to feature 1,000 free performances citywide. Artists, volunteers and any member of the public may decorate the street pianos and will be encouraged to play them, Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s office said in a news release. “It doesn’t matter if you’re a world-class virtuoso like Beethoven or a guy who took one year of lessons like Bloomberg, just sit down and let your fingers do the talking,” the mayor said in a statement prepared for a news conference today at Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City, across the East River from Manhattan in the borough of Queens, where a piano will be installed

Ohhhhh man there is a 300% chance I’m getting drunk and finding one of these pianos sometime in the next two weeks. I play a rendition of Happy Birthday that would make Mozart and Beethoven shit their pantalones. Maybe I’ll sit under the Brooklyn Bridge and tickle the ivory and do a little Do A Deer A Female Deer. Get Kunal to accompany me on the Recorder for a little Hot Cross Buns. And for my grand finale I’ll do the Jaws theme for like 2 or 3 hours straight. It will be like New York City’s version of the vuvuzela.

But for real if you don’t think I’m gonna grab smokes by the arm and rock out with them to a little Heart and Soul, you must be outside of your mind. The only thing bitches love more than internet blogging is musical talent.
