I Don’t Understand Parents Getting Arrested Because They Let Their Kids Throw A Party

(NYT) – A high school lacrosse player’s parents were arrested on Saturday after hosting an alcohol-fuelled party for teenagers at their Queens, New York home. Anthony and Claire Reyes were taken into custody by police after neighbours complained about underage drinking taking place on their property. They were charged with 43 counts of unlawfully dealing with children, a misdemeanor that can include serving alcohol to minors. Two 16-year-olds were treated at a local hospital for alcohol abuse after drinking too much alcohol at the party and the night’s events have got the community talking.

Stories like this will never cease to amaze me. Parents arrested because they let kids drink in their house so they can keep an eye on it. Absolutely idiotic. Those 2 girls got taken to the hospital solely because the parents were there to supervise. If it was all kids they would have just called them pussies and let them pass out in the corner. Hey, government, kids are going to drink no matter what. Trying to stop them is worthless. Just look at everyone drinking hand sanitizer or mouth wash or cough syrup. Snorting bath salts and shit. Kids are gonna get fucked up. Has always been that way. There is NO point in punishing parents who allow it to go on under there roof so they can keep an eye on it. We had a bunch of parents who allowed it when we were in high school and guess how many of us died in a car crash or got a DUI on the way home from slugging beers on the beach? Not a single one of us. Preaching zero-tolerance alcohol consumption is like teaching abstinence as the only form of safe sex: you’re only hurting the majority of kids. They’re gonna drink and they’re gonna fuck, show them how to do it safely. Arresting two parents because they gave some kids a few Bud Lights/Coors Lights/Miller Lites is idiotic
